The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom reports on a .50 caliber sniper round being tested by the U.S. military that can change course mid-air. It’s being touted as able to make snipers invincible.
With this type of control over a bullet, a sniper could potentially make a successful shot from an otherwise unheard of direction and territory.
To promote this new bullet, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) released a video of field tests featuring the Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (Exacto).
According to DARPA, snipers could not change direction of their bullet if their target moves after the shot is taken.
“The program’s next phase includes a system-level live-fire test and technology refinement to enhance and improve performance,” it said.
