A burglar picked the wrong home when he targeted 92-year-old Joe Milspa, a World War II veteran, and his trusty 1911.

Armed with an ax, the intruder first tried to “Here’s Johnny!” his way through the front door. Hearing the noise, Milspa grabbed his Model 1911 handgun and approached the door – that’s when police say “he suddenly saw an exterior glass window of the home shatter, followed by the suspect attempting to crawl into his home through the window”.

“Just as I got around the corner on him with his axe. He poked around, I let off a shot and he took off,” Milspa told reporters.

The burglar was not hit but did drop his ax as well as several other items.

“I could have shot him right in the head between the eyes. But I didn’t want to do that. I would have been in trouble,” Milspa said.

The suspect is described as a man in his mid to late 20’s with a dark complexion.

  1. OMG! It is like you understand my mind! You seem to know so much about this, just like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, besides that, this is outstanding blog post. A great read. I will definitely revisit again.

  3. I don’t usually post on blogs but had to on yours. You have a very easy to read writing style. I really enjoy posts about this topic, they give me a lot to reflect on. I don’t have time to read everything right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Yahoo, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will check back soon to see the latest thoughts.
